Today I was greeted by the news of four, yes, four CHURCHES being bombed / torched around the Klang Valley area.
Apparently, this despicable act was committed by Muslim fanatics who were angry over the High Court’s recent decision to allow the use of the world ‘Allah’ in Christian religious publications.
I do not belong to either of these faiths, but the principle of the matter is that we just can’t simply go around throwing explosives at property and people just because we are dissatisfied with something. Yes, there is freedom of speech, we are allowed to protest, but somewhere, a line MUST be drawn.
What good will come of bombing these places of worship? Probably a riot – that may escalate into a dreaded repeat of May 13th.
Looking at the comments cropping up on popular political news sites such as Malaysiakini and Malaysia Today, as well as many individual blogs, many are already pointing fingers at a certain dominant political party, blaming them for planning these disgusting acts.
Of course, these are just speculations, as there is no concrete evidence as to who is responsible behind these attacks. However, many, like me, are rather appalled at the lackadaisical manner in which the Home Ministry and the Prime Minister is treating these incidents. I am sure that in a developed country like Singapore, Australia, England or the US, the, wse would be tantamount to a terrorist act and would involve top levels of security, with full-blown investigations to bring the situation under control.
Sigh, MALAYSIA BOLEH!
